Not sufficient to get in the way in which of the story and characters although. Needless to say once I first heard thatThe Flowers Of Evil was getting a film I was skeptical, to say the least. Even once they aren’t Hollywood atrocities, most live-action variations are middling at finest with some exceptions like the primary Nana. However, Toradorais one other all-time favorite of mine so when Anohanawriter andMaquiadirector Mari Okada was tapped as the script-writer I held onto some hope. Known for her emotional nuance and subversive characters, I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else on the project. You already know the way I really feel about this factor as a movie;Okada and the staff made a fairly good film with a few stand out scenes that really do the sequence some justice.
The anime was actually a live-action adaptation of kinds and whereas I’ve always been sour it didn’t sell nicely sufficient to justify getting extra of it, I’ve at all times been extraordinarily happy with not. Now that the movie materialized and I went to go see it, I can confidentially say because the world’s greatest fan of the series that I’m glad it exists! With Mari Okada injecting some pep into the script and even giving us that more human Nakamura, we got a sweeping film that had moments of being a worthy adaptation. Unfortunate that Kasuga’s redemption story performed second fiddle. Ideally, the 2 halves of the story might have been made into two separate movies however I’ll take the one we got.

I personally wished to see Hee Sung get his memory back because all of the growth and personal improvement he went by way of was big. His journey was the core part of the story, so it type of felt like that was all thrown away. It was very satisfying to see Hee Sung understand that he did love Ji Won as well as how strongly Ji Won believed in him. Their romance was complicated, thrilling, coronary heart wrenching, and delightful.
The manga more or less has three signature events; There’s the classroom destruction scene which the anime lined and the climax of the first and second half, which it never got to. As a fan, I particularly wished to see the components of the story that the anime by no means lined dealt with well, which is why the partial gutting of the second half didn’t sit properly with me. Thankfully on the very least, these individual scenes brought tears to my eyes within the theater. Joy, sadness, regrets, it’s all there.
With such talent to pull everybody upward, we even have constantly wonderful supporting actors. I watched Flower of Evil initially as a result of I actually have long had nice admiration for Moon Chae-Won’s whose engaging magnificence comes alive along with her deep and endearing performing. LJG is so good at being an undesirable character and being like-able on the identical time. And MCW (who I didn’t like before) is really good in this drama. Her role is so emotionally draining but she did it very nicely.
